Question by John S: How long should you wait to advertise a lost cat?
My cat followed me up the road at 8pm last night. Then she crossed a busy main road and ran off. She was missing last night and I went to look for her at 1am without finding her.
The good news is she has just walked in at 2pm after being missing for 18 hours.
If it happens again how long should I wait to be sure she is missing. She loves being an outdoor cat so don’t say I should keep her indoors.

“She loves being an outdoor cat”. Hope she also enjoys the prospect of being splattered on the “busy main road” or poisoned by a neighbor with an antifreeze leak. If your seriously this insistent on being irresponsible with regard to your cats safety why would you care about advertising her as lost?
